Finally, A Face Mask That Transforms Oily Skin
For most of my life, my skin could be classified as combination. Not too oily, not too dry, but definitely effected by seasonal weather.
It wasn't until I started suffering from cystic acne that my skin leaned more towards the oily side—and stayed that way. It wasn't bad enough that I had to deal with a stressful job and the large acne bumps and scars that came along with my heightened stress, I was having a hard time keeping foundations and concealers on my skin because it was so darn oily.
I'd like to say that I found a magical skin product that cured both my acne and my excess oil problem, leaving my skin flawless forever, but I have only been able to fix the oiliness problem so far. It wasn't until a year later that I found the perfect oily skin cure. And by perfect, I mean 99.9% perfect.
Enter Blue Tansy, a mask by the natural beauty brand Herbivore Botanicals that I picked up at my local Sephora while looking for some new products to try. I had never heard of the brand before and instantly fell in love with their simple, chic packaging. After reading the back of the box, which touted that this mask could unclog pores, soothe complexion, and naturally shed the top layer of skin with a series of natural AHAs and BHAs found in white willow bark, fruit enzymes, blue tansy oil, and aloe leaf, my curiosity got the best of me and I paid the $48 for it.
I am so happy that I did.
I knew that I was dealing with something powerful the moment that I put it on. The thick-yet-light blue goop started tightening on my face, and it smelled like a forest full of pine trees. After 15 minutes, I rinsed it off and my skin felt rejuvinated, matte, and smooth, and it looked a bit brighter, too. The next day, I put my makeup on and it applied flawlessly, stayed in place all day long, and stayed matte all day. I didn't apply the mask again until a few days later, and my skin stayed smooth and matte in-between applications. It completely transformed my skin, and every time I use it I reep the benefits.
Now, while it provides a temporary fix to my oil problem, it doesn't do much about the small bout of cystic acne I still struggle with (meaning I get a few cystic bumps every now and then). That's fine by me because, quite honestly, only a dermatologist can handle the beast that is cystic acne, and thanks to some various medications I basically have it under control.
This mask should be on the shopping list of every woman with oily skin, because it does exactly what it advertises and is totally worth the price. (A little goes a long way with this mask.) One thing I will say is that if I don't use the mask for a few days, I do start to get oily again, so be aware that your skin will become addicted to this after your first use. But I have a feeling that once your skin is totally transformed like mine was, you won't mind using this mask multiple times a week.
